This particular horizontal navigation link/menu/category has been set up ONLY to set our global text link footers for the rest of the articles.

Since we already have a product CATEGORY called "Black Opal" then we don't need to have two landing pages about black opal
SO essentially it goes like this
HOME PAGE
BLACK OPAL PAGE (has long list of products and then some underneath the list of products. The text underneath will link to our articles that are about black opal)
Black Opal products (click on a product image to see product in more detail with videos, pictures etc)
Black Opal articles - just articles to cover all the other topics in our black opal Silo (theme)
When we write all our "black opal" articles - we will assign them to THIS parent category (Black Opal) so our articles can have the same text link footer.
I know this is a little confusing, but when we set up a product, there is no way to provision to have a text link footer.
So to get around this, we need to set up categories in the horizontal navigation that mimic our product categories
SO RECAP
We set up all product categories based on the physical products you actually have for sale (eg black opal, rubbed opal etc)
We then set up horizontal navigation for ALL OF THESE product categories (Silos) PLUS the rest of our Silos EXCEPT we won't actually use the doubled up product categories - they will be set to hidden (button at bottom of this page is checked as "no menu") - so the will never be live on the website.
